yes it rocks! We love it! They sure rock the snowboard scene. They have been doing so great with the website for years now. And wit the white paper approach and the perfect community ... what else do you need... just joined in all you need is there
Really not sure about this, whilst I appreciate the move to become more inclusive with your customers what is actually produced is a quite chaotic visual appearance, there is for me just a bit too much visual noise and creating a place that feels a little too contrived.
I find the typography regarding the boards a little hard to read in terms of "hard, soft" etc.
Overall I like it on white... but there are just too many elements on screen.
( I actually agree that I prefered the black one, the reasons for this were not the colours but more for the organisation of the site, the menu was always a little quirky.. but now in the new site style it just looks a little more akward than prev. )

hmm not sure you are getting along the targeted crowd here. Meaning the visual advanced users, a snowboard and hip in his culture.
I think this is just what is should be. I like that it is different has more elements and still maintains the structure. Elements are not messy at all. Organization of the site is still one of my favorites... the content is there when i need it...
Even when i look from a designer point of view i see the benefits of the visual language. Of course a bit off from the clean language we are used in web 2.0 but really this is a step into a right direction. Not all sites need to be clean ... i support the different approach.
Technically build with css, not messing up with flash and on ruby if i got this right... superb...
community with forum, user profile, comments, video and picture upload possibility...uf ... and i only started using it
thumbs up all the way!

I completely understand the advanced users, a generation of X games users, oneil and gin gliders, paragliding and kites, a sense of belonging, I still maintain the site is chaotic, there are many sites that do exactly this but maintain an aesthetic that still relieves the eye a little, for instance I maintain typography on the site is still difficult to read the whole offer seems quite convoluted, do not get confused with the site and its intention whilst it is there to support its customers and generate interest it is also there to sell product... also this has been more of a reskin than a new site, and whilst i understand you are talking about the use of technology and this is an overall step in the right direction, I do believe that there are some instances where things do get a little confused... take the tabs tucked under the main image, they swap out content below but there is some kind of user box stuck in between this... what is the intention of this - what is the ask a pro function how do i ask them ? this is not clear. Ultimately you can spend time on the site if you so wish and invest your time in peeling back its layers but SOME things need to be explicitly clear to a user so they can understand what they are to do here. That is my opinion, I may be wrong and that is sometimes the way with these kind of things...
peace...

Brilliant!
just small errors on image positioning, but i love 'sketched' layouts well done like that.
